Quality Systems Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for engineering and executing improvements to the IFA Quality Management Systems (QMS) in North America. The QSE will coordinate and execute the plan to transition the site QMS from TS standards to IATF standards and ensure continued compliance to standards by driving sustainable advancements through value streams and support functions.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist in maintaining the safety standards for all operations in assigned work areas

  • Provide quality service to IFA's internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, while upholding IFA Values at all times.

  • Evaluate business goals, identify improvement opportunities and apply scientific methods, statistics and problem solving techniques to improve and sustain product quality and process effectiveness.

  • Plan and execute projects and team activities to facilitate changes that have a statistical impact on business results, especially as it relates to meeting and exceeding scrap/productivity goals and customer expectations.

  • Establish programs, policies and procedures to evaluate precision, accuracy and capability of processes, products, production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.

  • Support the maintenance and improvement of the IFA Quality Management System.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of the IFA Production System and the execution of customer corrective and preventative actions and internal non-conformance procedures.

  • Schedule and perform audit activities, to include pre-audit planning, audit execution, audit evaluation and post-audit follow-up of identified non-conformance with recommendations.

  • Assist value streams with development, implementation and evaluation of corrective / preventive actions to improve overall ISO compliance and quality results.

  • Monitor progress of improvement efforts and assist value stream leaders in completion of CIP projects.

  • Present to managers on improvement projects and activities.

  • Compile & write training material and conduct training sessions on improvement tools & methodologies.

  • Ensure applicability of current quality policies, procedures and objectives by keeping informed of the latest updates/ modifications related to ISO quality systems.

  • Support the development and administration of the customer corrective and preventative action (CAPA), internal non-conformance and IFA Quality Management Systems

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree with major in related field or combination of education and 5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Current ASQ certification (Ex. CSSBB, CQE, CRE, etc....)



  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience with Quality Systems Management in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 / IATF 16949:2016 standards

  • Extensive experience with SAP R/3 enterprise resource system preferred

  • Experience in a leadership position or training role preferred

  • Experience in quality control program operations, to include standards & measurement techniques.

  • Ability to understand and apply statistical process improvement tools to improve and sustain business results.

  • Strong organizational, practical mathematical (statistical) skills, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze, plan and organize projects.

  • Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution.

  • Knowledge and ability to understand and apply process audit principles (ISO/ASQ).

  • Ability to apply quality control theories and principles to an operational environment.

  • Six Sigma or Lean skills and tools exposure advantageous.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer and software operation, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Must excel at working in a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to operate in cross functional teams


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk/move about a 200,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 90% of the time

  • Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 75% of the time

  • Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 40% of the time

  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis: 30% of the time

  • Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 10% of the time

  • Must be able to sit at a work station: 80% of the time

  • Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time

  • Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.

  • Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
